2016 is coming to and end and I’m making a (mental) summary of all the things I have learned this year. Failures, out-of-comfort situations and books are my Top Sources for learning.

Today, I want to share with you some of the books that have made a difference in my personal life.

Notice that “reading” is not enough, but “doing” what you read, is what makes you learn.

Choose Yourself. James Altucher is a hilarious guy. I love his podcast and his endless curiosity. In his book, he presents a good concept to improve your life by having a good balance: Mentally, Spiritually, Physically… But the best insight I got is how to become an “Idea Machine”. I used to say “I’m not creative enough“, but with James I learned that creativity is a muscle to develop, and it requires a regular practice in order to do it.

His practice is simple: sit down, take a piece of paper and write 10 ideas for something… whatever topic it comes to your mind. But focus on that and take your time. I have done, even daily, and it works! For example, those issues @work that don’t let me sleep, I take my time the day after and the first I do in the morning is to write 10 ways how to solve it, where to investigate, who to ask… another example: I’ll receive some friends of my daugther at home, I sit down and write 10 different activities I can do with them… I come up ALWAYS with a solution. We have done the exercise together with my husband: holidays, financial problems, activities with Camila, etc. Believe me: it’s incredible how your brain works when you just: 1)Take the time 2)Focus and 3)Do it regularly. TRY IT!

The War of Art. This is simple a Master Piece! One of the best books I’ve ever read and I’ll continue reading till my last days… Steven Pressfield made his contribution to the humanity with this book. I just listened his interview in James Altucher’s podcast, I’m really motivated to read more of his material in 2017.

Are you a writer that doesn’t write? Are you a painter that doesn’t paint? What are the dreams or projects that are in your mind that you NEVER realize? Are you still in that relationship that doesn’t bring anything at all?… my question to all the above is: WHY?… Do not start with all the excuses, the answer is: because of the “Ressistance”. The internal force that doesn’t let you DO. The book is a fantastic “kick in your ass” to motivate you DO your work. The examples and the humor included makes it even better. This is a MUST READ for everybody!

The Four Agreements. This is the first book I read of Don Miguel Ruiz. I was a bit lost at the beginning, but when he started to explain the agreements itself I got it! I enjoyed a lot and I’m even planning to give a speech about that.

Everybody has “agreements” on every relationship: with your employer, with your spouse, with your customers. But is not so obvious the agreements that we have with ourselves. From the moment we start to break those agreements, our relationships become unstable and the issues come up.

Do you want to improve your relationship with others? Then start by yourself. This is a very good guide for Personal Freedom and internal well-being.

I have all these books in audio format, which makes it easy to “read” them again, and again.

I hope you can pick one of them and take the benefits as much as I have.

If you have read one of them, let me know what you think. Or you have a recommendation for me, please shoot!

Enjoy the holidays with your family!

Kaqui…
